An Abundance We Don't Even See

We take for granted the food we have and consume way more than we ever should. I had an epiphany today when someone complained to me that they did not have enough "options" when it came to snacks they wanted. This complaint struck me to my core because the majority of the world doesn't have options and when they have two or three things to chose from it is abundance and something to be joyous about. We take for granted everything we have already and expect even more. We consume to fill some sort of void rather than to nourish ourselves and give fuel to our body. Maybe we eat so much and buy so many things because the other aspects of our lives lack something vital and something important. It's been shown and proven that money isn't happiness and that what you have isn't the answer to your problems. This is seen in how unhappy even the richest people are, Jim Carey once said something along the lines of  "I wish everyone could become rich and famous to see that it isn't the answer." Everyone one of us in the United States is lucky to have options yet we don't appreciate them for what they are. We have choices but chose to push aside the abundance we have as not enough because we aren't fulfilled in life.
